DIOXINE
DIOXIN
When we mention Dioxin, we are talking about 2, 3, 7, 8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-para-dioxin. A molecule the most toxic of all among the family of dioxines. It is produced when making acid chloride 2, 4,5-T, known for its chemical properties.
Resistant to heat up until 800° sometimes more than 1000°, it is little soluble in water, however it is liposoluble, meaning it is soluble in fats and can therefore accumulate in divers tissues or liquids found in living organisms, humans or animals, in particularly in maternal milk, where the risk of transmission to the fetus is high.
Often the inhabitants of regions heavily sprayed by this chemical, (a total of 2 631 297 hectares was touched between 1961 and 1971 of which Agent Orange represents 61% of herbicides used during the war), are badly informedabout the dangers or depend on such products containing contaminated fats, like eggs and fish.
